Biomass

Stewart Thermal Ltd specialises in the recovery and utilisation of energy from Biomass resources. Biomass is living or recently dead biological material that can be used as fuel or for industrial production.

Harvesting biomass such as crops, trees or animal matter to generate energy is known as bioenergy.

The production of energy from biomass fulfills a very important role in the reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere as it forms part of the carbon cycle.

The thermal treatment of biomass in place of fossil fuels assists in the reduction of greenhouse gas emission.

A major advantage of using biomass in power plants is that its availability can be as high as 92% (>8000 hrs per annum) more than twice that of wind and solar power.

Early biomass power plants were developed to combust wood based materials; chips, pellets etc and have been in existence for many years. However, at Stewart Thermal Ltd we specialise in the treatment of more onerous energy biomass materials having variable moisture content, high ash ratios and complex chemical compositions. We work with OEM's and developers to ensure systems and equipment are 'fit for purpose' and capable of fulfilling end user requirements.
