Jim Powis – Technical Services Director

Jim has worldwide experience of commissioning, operations and maintenance of a large number of biomass and waste to energy schemes. He has worked in Mauritius, Botswana, South Africa, Papua New Guinea and Somalia on a variety of schemes using amongst others, wood, bark, bagasse, chars, bedding and straw as fuels.

Having been Lead Design and Commissioning Engineer on several large projects using both conventional and fluidised bed technologies he has the ability to produce effective plant designs from functional and technical specifications.

Jim applies a professional engineers perspective to the design of plant to meet the requirements of the client while ensuring that the resulting plant is technically sound, will meet performance needs, and be fully compliant with planning constraints and emissions controls.

Jim was the Operations and Maintenance Manager at the Fibrothetford Power Station in East Anglia until he left to form Stewart Thermal Ltd in January 2002
